First off, this mug only holds 12 ounces of liquid. There is ambiguity in the description, so I wanted that to be clear to anyone who is concerned with that.The quality of both the packaging and the item itself is outstanding. I felt spoiled, even though I bought it for myself. Exceeding expectations and I am keeping the box to use to give gifts in the future because it's so nice.I never had a mug warmer before and the instructions and use are both very simple and intuitive.The only problem I had is that I live in an OLD house with outlets spaced like someone was probably adding them in on the fly in rather random places, so the tiny cable couldn't even reach from our wall outlet to any countertop that I would be drinking tea at. XD Buying a cheap 3 foot extension or longer through Amazon easily solves this and is well worth it. I didn't think I needed a mug warmer and was mostly after the cute mug to replace one of mine that broke, but it's great to get distracted by a small child or an important task and come back and, without any stress, know my tea is still waiting for me. It eliminates a lot of conflict. ?Also, I didn't think I needed a lid for my mug either, but it makes a huge difference with the use of the warmer. Can it warm mugs that don't have it? Yes, but not as effectively since the heat escapes. It will still be warm, but not as evenly warm.One other potential hangup is the type of artwork on the mug with the metallic gold will normally come off in the dishwasher and probably shouldn't be used in microwaves, so it is hand wash only, tho not difficult to wash as dishes go.
